This page documents the requirements for GPIT Solutions to support the COVID-19 vaccination campaign at Local/GP/PCN level.

The requirements are structured into 3 Capabilities which represent the business need at the highest level:

  1. Cohort Identification

  2. Appointments Management

  3. Vaccination and Adverse Reaction Recording

To be assessed as meeting a Capability, the Supplier Solution would need to meet the MUST requirements for that Capability as a minimum. For MAY requirements, the Supplier can choose which they believe they need to meet based on their own User Research and the specific context they expect their Solutions to be used in. A Supplier Solution does not need to meet all 3 Capabilities, as it is possible for a mixture of Solutions to be integrated within a Local/GP/PCN setting in order to meet all Capabilities.

These requirements can be considered as 'finalised' with the following caveats:

  • Certain requirements will be converted into Epics and Acceptance Criteria to support the Capability Assessment phase

  • Requirements 5) and 6) in the ‘Vaccination and Adverse Reaction Recording’ Capability are still under review and may be subject to change

  • Requirements in the ‘Vaccination and Adverse Reaction Recording’ Capability relating to Patient record access and SCR are still under review and may be subject to change

  • A potential new requirement to mandate the provision of COVID-19 Appointments data to NHS Digital is under consideration
